LuMind™ Research Down Syndrome Foundation (LuMind RDS) CARES since we believe Cognition And Research Empowers Success. At LuMind RDS, we stimulate biomedical research that will accelerate the development of treatments to significantly improve cognition, including memory, learning, and speech, for individuals with Down syndrome so they:
- participate more successfully in school and employment,
- lead more active and independent lives, and
- avoid the early cognitive decline with aging and Alzheimer’s Disease.
Join us, as we support individuals with Down syndrome. Show everyone you CARE! Register for LuMind’s 321 Virtual Run, Don’t run? Don’t worry! Last year, people swam, biked, walked and even danced using the 321 theme to raise awareness and funds. What is LuMind RDS doing? Since 2004, distributed $15 million in funding grants, leading to $18 million in concurrent funding from the National Institute of Health and other sources. With the guidance of a Scientific Advisory Board, funded research that identified 10 new potential drug targets to improve cognition and 4 clinical trials. LuMind RDS is collaborating with the NIH and AC Immune in the first clinical trial for an anti-Abeta vaccine targeting Alzheimer’s disease-like characteristics in people with Down syndrome.
