Looking for a FUN way to raise money for LuMind Research Down Syndrome Foundation without all the stress of planning a complicated event or gala? Take a look at the Ann & Dee’s Memorial 24 Hour Relay Run for Research!
Lisa Arnoa and Matt MacDougall came up with the idea for the the 24 Hour Relay Run for Research three years ago as a way to bring friends, family, and the local community together in support of Down syndrome cognition research. This year, they renamed the event to remember their moms. “Lisa and I wanted to honor our mothers who have been our greatest inspirations and mentors in what life is about … Giving selflessly to help others!” explained Matt.
What makes the event is the casual and fun atmosphere. While the event is based on the idea of running or walking for a 24 hour period as part of a relay team, there are no strict rules. Lisa and Matt encourage all participants to just stop by to hang with friends and neighbors, do a little running, and stick around for as long as possible. People bring tents and food and enjoy each other’s company. Be warned, though: you might never want to leave after you show up! It’s like one big party to raise support and awareness for Down syndrome research!
