Amy Allison currently serves as the Executive Director of the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City (DSG). DSG, founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated parents of children with Down syndrome, provides programs and services to improve the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. DSG serves over 800 families caring for a loved one with Down syndrome in the greater Kansas City area on both sides of the state line.
In addition to her work with DSG, Amy Allison serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Down Syndrome Affiliates In Action (DSAIA). In 2009, Amy’s leadership and expertise helped DSAIA organize a conference in Washington DC where more than 300 Down syndrome advocates from 35 states gathered at the U.S. capitol to lobby Capitol Hill. The purpose of this effort was to seek federal funds to help spread accurate information about prenatally diagnosed disabilities and to raise additional support for Down syndrome related causes.
Amy received a double bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Brigham Young University.
